The Chesapeake Bay is the largest and most productive estuary in the United States; some have even argued it is the largest estuary in the world. Over 1/3 of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed lies within Pennsylvania, more than in any other state. Pennsylvania plays an important role in the future health of the Bay.
With special funding from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Advancing Science has initiated a new Chesapeake Bay Watershed program involving 36 educators in grades k-12. These teachers have been using the Advancing Science Program to strengthen the environmental area of their curriculum. Advancing Science continues to add equipment and labs to provide for new watershed related activities for use by all of its participating teachers.
